#Haters, part of our Creative Debate programme is the film-making project for young people aged 16 to 25 living in areas affected by urban regeneration and broad socio-economic gaps. The project uses Creative Debate to support community cohesion and promote active citizenship.

Participants will have an opportunity to develop critical skills and articulate their personal views of the issues addressed by #Haters through a series of film-making workshops.  The short film created by the young people will be presented to an audience including their families and invited traders, developers and local MPs working in the boroughs. After the screening, the audience and the young people will take part in a facilitated debate for an opportunity to talk about the problems affecting their community.

WHAT PEOPLE THINK

Totally relatable. You can get judged easily just by the way you look. (Zion, 15)

Tyrese portrayed some of the people who live in my area. They put pride before everything else. (Layla, 15)

We really did love having Odd Eyes in the building and super impressed with what was produced with our participants, the feedback from them and the whole staff team at Hoxton Hall was very complimentary too, so thanks again. (Grace Hammonds, Creative Learning Coordinator, Hoxton Hall)

Thanks so much for all your efforts with the young people throughout the project, they were all immensely positive about the whole experience, from start to finish. Love the film and have been discussing it with the young people this week. (Rory Bradshaw, Lead Youth Worker, Carney’s Community)

#Haters was quite an eye-opener and I really gained from the discussion with the young people and organisations that do so much to support our teenagers and keep them safe. (Cllr Sarah McDermott, Lead Member for Children’s Services, Wandsworth Borough Council)
