Children of Ndithini

At the beginning of the year, the Chair of Odd Eyes Theatre, Diego Trucco, and Artistic Director Emilia Teglia visited Madre Ippolita Children Home in Ndithini, Kenya. The visit marked the start of a new collaboration with Domus, an international ONLUS (charity) that has been supporting the orphanage since 2025.

During our week-long stay, our camera followed the busy days of the mission and the activities led by Domus’ volunteers. We gathered footage for a larger project that aims to involve the children in creating their own film, supporting them in storytelling and self-advocacy.

Children and volunteers with gifts purchased with donations collected by Domus. Mattresses, blankets, fabric for school uniforms, a new printer for the school were part of the gifts.

Located in the heart of Machakos County, the mission is a vibrant and wide-reaching project. Its facilities include a primary school, a dispensary, a hospital, a bakery and a morgue. Around 200 children benefit from this remarkable initiative, which has been developed over the past 30 years by the Head of the Mission, Sister Nadia Monetti.

We were met with incredible warmth, generosity and support throughout our visit. We look forward to sharing a taster documentary from the experience and hope many will join us in supporting our upcoming fundraising campaign, helping us to further develop the project and place the children at the centre of shaping their own future.
