FLOODSHARE was created as part of the Cally Fest Young People’s Performance Project led by Odd Eyes Theatre with the Stuart Low Trust.
Since February, we met weekly to explore the concept of Inside Out. What goes on Inside our minds and how it is affected by the events Outside, happening in the world and in the Cally community right now?
Through writing, drama and movement prompts, we discovered we were all impacted by the housing situation, that we all had something to say about loving and hating life in this uncompromising, overcrowded city, and we all felt the need to find ourselves and simultaneously to find connection.
Whilst creativity poured out in our workshops, floodwater struck outside. On 24th February, a water pipe burst in Caledonian Road, leading to a disastrous flood that affected business and households.
FLOODSHARE is about this and more. Our characters blend together people from our past and from our present, and, of course, a bit of our own selves. We hope you will also find something that resonates with you and connects us all.
Thanks to Cally Fest Production Team, the Jean Stokes Community Centre management and Cally Connect resource centre.
This project was made possible through funding by the Islington Giving (Cripplegate Foundation).
