About Us

Odd Eyes Theatre champions genuine representation, meaningful dialogue and opportunities for civic participation. We celebrate and connect individuals and communities through award-winning theatre, film and learning programmes.

ODD EYES was born and continues to be a participant-led company.

Read this article on the Big Issue to find out how Artistic Director and founder Emilia Teglia set up the company in response to her positive personal experience of the arts as a young homeless migrant woman.  Emilia was nominated in the top 100 changemakers for her contribution to social change through Odd Eyes Theatre.

Youth is still at the core of Odd Eyes’ activities. In 2025-26, 72% of people involved in attending, co-designing and performing in our programmes were aged 15 to 25 year old (35 in certain cases). Our participants bring their unique experiences, expertise and challenges. We work with young refugees and asylum seekers, young people affected by isolation and mental health, those with learning needs and cognitive disabilities. The majority of the young people that create, share and learn through Odd Eyes programme are growing up in financial uncertainty. With unwavering commitment to use creativity to open communication, we open our programmes to everyone, regardless of their background.

Though we mostly work with young people, our creative projects for over 25 and those focussed on over 75 have an important place in Odd Eyes’ programme. We believe in intergenerational exchange and fostering a culture in which age does not define individual value as artist, learners, teachers or citizen.

The diversity of Odd Eyes Board reflects these values.
