VOLUNTEER WITH OUR ARTISTIC TEAM

Are you tired of the way the world is falling apart and want to do something about it?
Are you interested in Theatre in Social Contexts?

A volunteering opportunity has just opened up with Odd Eyes Theatre to support our Performance Course sessions for young people (18-35 years old) in partnership with The Stuart Low Trust charity, working to reduce isolation, loneliness and mental ill health.

Position: Volunteer
Dates: Every Wednesday until 2 July 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm
Performance: Friday 27 June; Sunday 6 June
Contract: Voluntary
Location: Jean Stokes Community Centre, Coatbridge House, Carnoustie Dr, London N1 0DX

About the programme
This Performance Course offers participants the tools to express their personal experiences through writing and performance leading towards public sharing of their own work.
The current group has been working together under the guidance of Odd Eyes Theatre’s Associate Artist Andreea Tudose for the past 3 months, and in this last term they will be working towards their public performances on 27th June at The Stuart Low Trust and on 6th July, as part of the programme of the Cally Festival.

About the role
Duties include assisting with the smoot running of the workshops whilst taking part in the activities. During the workshops, you will help the lead facilitators setting up the space and offering support to participants who might need it on certain tasks (e.g. writing or helping them with their lines and make sure they understood tasks). You will also support with getting the final production and performance ready for the Cally Festival.
The commitment is one evening per week (3 hours) in Islington (nearest station Caledonian Rd and Barnsbury) from May to early July 2025, one Friday evening at the end of June and all day first Sunday in July.

About you
If you are an advocate for equality and you’d like to support other young people in accessing the creative arts to have their voice heard, if you like participating in writing and performing workshops where you also get the chance to create, explore and work your skills, then this opportunity might be for you.
You’ll also learn about the work Odd Eyes Theatre does, how we create inclusive spaces and support individuals according to their specific needs so that they can make the most of being part of a theatre group.

Write to Andreea at [email protected] by Wednesday 7th May if you’re interested. Send a couple of sentences detailing what interests you about working with this group and we’ll be in touch.
