The play

When inner city teenagers Tia and Kai find themselves living it up in their rich schoolmate’s mansion, they think their day can’t get any better… Until a priceless fishing fly mysteriously vanishes, leading to home truths being revealed and friendships stretched to breaking point.

Talking directly to the audience, Kai and Tia, sixteen recall the events of their out-of-the-ordinary day spent at the Kardashian-like villa of their rich school mate Sienna. The day started off with a bang: gym, private cinema, a walk-in wardrobe to ‘dress the part’ and even a swimming pool, all fuelled by cocktails, home-grown weed and the best UK Drill soundtrack. But when Sienna’s father came back to find his daughter drunk and his collectible fishing fly missing, the adventure took a bleak turn, putting their friendship at stake.

ON THE LINE is a fast-paced play which looks at the complexity of growing up in today’s Britain. The script has been developed by Emilia Teglia through workshops with young people in Camden since 2020 with public sharing in January 2022 at Barons Court Theatre, Tower Theatre and secondary schools in London.
